Trump launches war on carp as US president to tackle 'violent and destructive' fish

Donald Trump has launched a new war following his joint strikes with Israel on Iran as he pledges to tackle 'violent and destructive' carp.

The US President stated on Truth Social that "Only “TRUMP” CAN DO IT!" as he aims to save Lake Michigan from Asian carp.

Trump also said he was also looking to save The Great Salt Lake in Utah as he warned they face having "no water".

Writing on Truth Social, Trump said: "I’m working with Governor Gretchen Whitmer on trying to save The Great Lakes from the rather violent and destructive Asian Carp, which is rapidly taking over Lake Michigan, and all of the beautiful surrounds.

"I’ll be asking other Governors to join into this fight, including those of Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, New York and, of course, the future Governor of Canada, Mark Carney, who I know will be happy to contribute to this worthy cause.

"Separately, I am also working to save The Great Salt Lake, in Utah, which, in a short period of time, if nothing is done, will have no water. This is on top of everything else I am doing. Only “TRUMP” CAN DO IT! !"

Trump was referring to major plans being looked over by his administration in an attempt to drive out the species.

A $1.2billion project is being planned in an attempt to prevent Asian carp and other invasive species from entering the Great Lakes.

The project took a setback after Its construction was been paused and it was placed under review by the Trump administration, according to lawmakers from Michigan and Illinois.

According to reports by ENR, The pause actually contradicted a presidential memo signed by Trump in May 2025 directing federal agencies “to achieve maximum speed and efficiency” in trying to stop Asian carp entering the lake.

However, Trump's message appears to show that plans may be back underway as he asked for help from "Governor of Canada, Mark Carney".
